You pay for boxes, by size and by the day. Your first box is free for 3 days, with no card.
What a box costs
A box’s size is its memory, which decides how many bundles it runs at once. Each size has a monthly price, charged by the day: a day costs the monthly price divided by 30, and no month is charged more than 30 days. Days are counted in UTC.
Shared
CPUs shared with other machines: fine for bursts of work, the usual choice.

The most memory for the money, for many bundles at once. Few CPUs, so builds are slower, and a smaller disk.

Your free box
Every person gets one free box, ever: the first box they make, for themselves or for someone else, in any account. It costs nothing for its first 3 days, and needs no card.
The free box is yours, not the account’s. If you invite someone to a family or organization with a box, that box uses your free box, not theirs. Destroying it does not give you another.
Every other box needs a card on its account’s Billing page before it can be made. An account that already has a card uses nobody’s free box.
When the free days end without a card
Add a card to the account’s Billing page and the box carries on, billed from the day after its free days. Without one, the box is powered off for 2 days, then destroyed with everything on it. We email before each step.
Before then, pack the bundles you want to keep as packages, and push your code: packages belong to the account and outlive any box.
Cue calls
Cue, the phone app, lets you talk to Claude on your box. A call costs 3¢ a minute, from when it connects to when you hang up, and goes on the bill of the account that owns the box. Calls during a box’s free days cost nothing, and no minutes are included otherwise.
For now, calls are counted but not charged: the minutes show on the Billing page at $0.
Families and organizations
A family or organization pays for its own boxes, with its own card on its own Billing page. Its admins see the bill.
